Chris’ fear of people made me think about social interactions on campus. I never know what to do when I see someone I’ve talked to once. I have to decide whether it would be rude to ignore the person, because we’ve only spoken once, or if they’d even remember me. It WAS only once. And if I choose not to ignore them, do I say hi? Or do I just smile? Or wave? Initiate short conversation? What did we talk about before? Am I Facebook friends with them? Is there a valid reason for being Facebook friends?
I usually can’t decide in time and end up walking by smiling at them. But they usually aren’t looking.
thats terrible.
hello anna.
a smile is always a safe bet.
and an even safe bet is a two handed imaginary i just shot you with my fingers routine. gets em everytime. then you don’t have to worry about next time because they won’t acknoledge you.
smile and do the head nod or head up thing. like “sup?” or….as soon as you notice them mess with your cell phone or ipod to avoid eye contact. bam! problem solved.
i was going to say the same as andrew. smiling is probably the best. and most normal.
